Potter’s Printing Set to Purchase the Herald News Building in Downtown Fall River
Posted Jan 9, 2020
FALL RIVER — The owners of Fall River based Potter’s Printing have announced that they will be purchasing the Herald News Building, located at 207 Pocasset Street.
On Tuesday, Lisa Strattan, vice president of news for GateHouse New England and general manager of SouthCoast publications, announced that the newspaper would temporarily move some of their staff to downtown New Bedford where the company’s sister publications are located, then eventually move key newsroom and advertising sales staff back to leased office space in Fall River.
The owners of Potter’s Printing have sent out the following press release:
“In 2006, Greg and Kris Potter established Potter’s Printing and purchased Cambridge Offset Printing. The business was successfully operated in Cambridge for two years and then the mill was purchased by the Potters.
In 2013, the business had outgrown the mill and was ready for expansion. Seeking a location closer to home, Fall River became an ideal choice. It was an easy decision to purchase the current property at 822 Eastern Avenue and later lease additional manufacturing space at 847 Pleasant Street in Fall River. The city still remains an ideal location for operating the printing business.
In 2018, with the need to expand yet again, the decision to move the Cambridge operation to Fall River and consolidate under one roof was made. The Cambridge property was sold in July 2019 by Collins Commercial Real Estate.
After unsuccessful attempts to purchase other locations, 207 Pocasset Street went under agreement in October, with Collins Commercial as the Buyer’s agent. This historic building will become the new home for Potters Printing, following in the printing and textile heritage.
Greg and Kris Potter stated “we are excited to operate our printing business in a location with such a long reputable history of printing and textile production in the city of Fall River”.
The plans for the Fall River Herald building include but are not limited to: new storefront, upgraded infrastructure, roof, mechanical, electrical upgrades, new windows and painting throughout.
Potter’s Printing is an established union printer that offers a vast array of printed products, from business cards to signage, as well as screen printed apparel, home goods, textiles and personalized gift products.
The Potters are pleased to renovate the building, and be able to maintain printing operations out of a building with a rich history in printing.
Collins Commercial has the building at 822 Eastern Avenue in Fall River for sale and will be leasing office space at 207 Pocasset Street. Kelley Collins may be reached at 508-676-8500.”
